Obszar wspólny, obszar własny (Common Space, Self Space) – a didactic project directed by Prof. Grzegorz Kowalski at the beginning of the 1980s, with the aim of communicating through the language of gestures, signs and symbols instead of words. A curtain of silence is drawn at the time of action.

The 11-th edition of OWOW in the academic year 2006–2007, in which I took part: a wardrobe was the starting point and the leitmotiv – as a metaphor of intimacy, possession, hiding, storing, closing and opening. Documentation was only a side-effect of the process in the past, today it becomes an important part of the process, and also the way of interpreting events. The documentation process was accompanied by live singing (by Agata Winska) summing up, defining, sometimes mocking the action on the screen.

Bio

Anna Molska uses video performance to explore the effect of artistic culture on the production of art. She rethinks the historical traditions of the Russian and Polish avant-gardes to question the role of the artist who, beyond the organisation of forms in space, participates in the construction of society. Exhibitions include Open Field, Flat Terrain (2019, Bunkier Sztuki, Krakow), Anna Molska. Human Material (2012 Museum of Arts and Design, New York), and the 5. Berlin Biennale (2008).
